C’est une nouvelle agréable qui me rappelle les nombreux jours que j’ai passés, pendant mon séjour à Paris, à visiter Le Louvre, l’Hôtel des Invalides, le Musée de l’homme, le Musée des arts et métiers et d’autres encore. Il y en a 21! Le prix d’entrée ne m’est pas resté en mémoire mais je me souviendrais toujours de la Vénus de Milo, de la Victoire de Samothrace et des différents pharaons.

With the Louvre attracting 8.3 million visitors in 2007, I think it’s about time that France opens its museums free to everyone much like their anglo-neighbors have done. It should be interesting to see what happens with ticket prices at the New Acropolis Museum in Greece opening in the spring 2009. Their website says ticket price has yet to be decided. I argue on my blog entry http://arttheftcentral.blogspot.com/2008/12/cultural-patrimony-or-profits.html that if their charging admission would undermine their efforts to repatriate the Elgin Marbles because they are currently exhibited in the British Museum free for all to enjoy.
